With an approaching winter storm headed to Massachusetts later this week, now is a good time to talk about how snow impacts your winter pest control on the south shorewinter pest control south shore massachusetts

As you can imagine, no one wants to be outside during a snowstorm, including mice and insects. As cold weather approaches, mice look for ways get inside our homes. Once there, they build nests and rapidly expand their family. Most insects have reduced levels of activity for the winter, but it's not uncommon, even in January, to see insect activity inside. Similar to rodents in Massachusetts, insects will be attracted to warmer areas in your home or basement. Ants may also come in through cracks in your foundation and become visible in the main living areas.

One way homeowners unintentionally invite mice and insects inside is by bringing in firewood. If you store firewood outside, keep it away from your house. Mice tend to nest in or around your firewood outside, so if it's close to the house, you're leaving the door open for vulnerabilities.

So try to keep warm this winter, but also keep an eye out for pests. And if you do see any, Burgess Pest Management is always here to help.
