As we look outside our windows during the month of February and see snow on the ground, it's easy to assume most insects are not active. Quite the contrary! Snow has a tendency to act as an insulating layer for many pests, which is why it's important to address the time frame for when to start Massachusetts tick spraysmassachusetts tick sprays

Our customer care specialists at Burgess Pest Management have already been receiving calls from our clients asking when we plan on beginning tick treatments on the south shore, Cape Cod, and the Greater Boston area.

While much of what we do in the Massachusetts pest control industry is directly influenced by the weather conditions, it's generally accepted that March is the correct time when treating for ticks in Massachusetts, as long as there is not snow on the ground.

Ticks can technically remain active year-round (and we've seen them walking across piles of snow even in January), but above 40 degrees Fahrenheit is when they're really on the move. It's very important that we apply our proprietary blend of residual products around your property perimeter early in the tick season on the south shore so these pests will die when they cross that barrier. This will help to reduce the number of ticks that are actually in your lawn.

Despite some recent snowfall and chilly weather, this winter has been mild. We're expecting an early tick season on Cape Cod, in particular. For the rest of the region, expect March to be the month when it makes most sense to get your Massachusetts tick treatments started.
