Cape Cod's tick problem
There are so many great reasons to vacation on Cape Cod. Nice beaches, beautiful houses, and great restaurants are just a few. But while visiting the Cape, we should all be mindful of the importance of staying protected from ticks and mosquitoes. Solving Cape Cod's tick problem is an uphill battle for residents and the professionals who are tasked with offering treatment options.
Ticks on Cape Cod are most common in areas with dense, natural brush. Unfortunately, that's another way of saying, they're virtually everywhere. With that in mind, here are some safety tips on Cape Cod's tick problem.
1- Stay covered up. Leaving exposed skin, especially from the knee down, leaves you more vulnerable to a tick bite. If you're going out for a hike or a walk, be mindful of how much skin is exposed.
2- Inspect yourself, your kids and your pets pets daily. There's so much concern about Lyme disease on Cape Cod that you can never be checking for ticks often enough. When the kids are done playing, take a look.
3- The CDC recommends using products with DEET for tick and mosquito repellent. If you do choose to use an insect repellent of any kind, be sure to read the label so you do not misuse the product.
Burgess Pest Management treats for ticks on Cape Cod uses a 200 gallon hyrdaulic sprayer to attack ticks with a residual application. By creating a barrier around your yard, we're reducing the chances of ticks infiltrating your lawn.
