When the temperature begins to fall in September, especially at night, rodents begin to look for ways to gain entry to indoor spaces to stay warm. There are several things to keep an eye our for this month, because in the Massachusetts pest control industry, fall rodent season starts now! Massachusetts pest control rodent control

  1. Use the falling leaves as an excuse to rake out the areas closest to your foundation. These are one of the preferred nesting spots for rodents in Massachusetts. By clearing these areas, you're not only removing a potential mouse nesting area, but you're exposing structural deficiencies which should be sealed along your foundation.
  2. Stand in your basement or garage and shut off the lights during the day. This makes it easier to see the light of day coming through any small openings, which you can seal to keep rodents out.
  3. Have the insulation in your basement and attic inspected by a professional. Rodents easily contaminate insulating material, which creates an unsanitary layer of bacteria that you may be breathing in. By replacing your insulation, you remove a hazardous zone of bacteria, and you'll also make your home more energy efficient before the winter.
