A California couple staying in a New York City hotel recorded video of their horrifying experience: a room infested with bedbugs. While this incident happened outside of our area, many are asking us if bed bugs are this bad at Massachusetts hotels.
Here's the video: https://youtu.be/NkOj7Hn3EbI
The couple was reportedly staying in the $400 per night Astor on the Park Hotel on Central Park West when they were severely bitten by bedbugs. Their own visual inspection of the room uncovered a fully infested bed.
This sort of incident is a horrifying experience. Bed bugs are present in Massachusetts hotels and that's why the bed bug team at Burgess Pest Management offers education and training material for hotel staff to properly inspect rooms and beds to detect their presence.
For guests, no matter where you're staying. you can take a look at the matress seems and the bed frame and headboard to detect bedbugs. While a visual inspection (especially an untrained one) is not always 100% accurate, it will increase the liklihood of you detecting bed bugs before you have an experience similar to this one.
If you'd like to know more, the Burgess Pest Management Massachusetts bed bug team would be happy to offer you more information.
